Fine Arts Institute logoEast High's Fine Arts Institute visual art students once again participated in a specialty program designed to further develop their artistic passions at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College's Artisan Center. Students were asked to do a 3-D figurative self-portrait. This unique portrait could be abstract, a relief type sculpture or stand-alone type sculpture. It could represent their present, past, future or a combination of both.

As students considered beginning their piece, they were asked to consider what their view or understanding of self portraits was? How do the characteristics of color affect the meaning of a self portrait? Does color also affect the perspective? Students looked at images of self portraits from famous artists that were done during different periods of their life and asked to notice the change over time in the self-portraits while also considering how these reflect a change within the artist.

These Fine Arts Institute visual artist's special artworks have been compiled into a thoughtful presentation at the Neville Public Museum where they join other area artists in a show titled "Hindsight is 2020-A Retrospective."  We hope you enjoy the tour as much as our students enjoyed the creative process!

Three awards were given: Stephanie Claudio-Montesino received "Best of Show", Alynn Schaus received "Second Place" and Breanna Dauphinais received "Honorable Mention." Great job!
